May Day, Maypole, and the Silly Symphony Swings

It's May Day and time to take a turn around the Maypole! See some great vintage images of the Maypole Dance posted by Barbara Marlow Irwin.

You too can learn how to do your own Maypole Dance at wikiHow.

Or if you'd rather watch the Disney princesses Belle, Cinderella, and Snow White dance around a maypole, you can with this fine china box. Each princess holds a different colored ribbon. Bas-hearts and flourishes, highlighted with 24 karat gold, encircle the box. It is crafted of hand painted Lenox ivory fine china. Measures 9" in height. This collectible was introduced 2007.

And while it's not exactly a Maypole, the new Silly Symphony Swings ride at Disney's California Adventure Park does have that certain look about it. Though cleverly renamed from the original Orange Stinger, it's actually been re-themed after The Band Concert--the first color short to feature Mickey Mouse (which was not part of the Silly Symphonies film series).

Scheduled to open this month, it appears that this ride will now have the look and feel that Walt would have approved of in his day. See how its coming together below:

Now just for the springtime fun it, here's the film:
