Stamping for the Weekend

Big Demo Day coming up and some Birthday Wishes

I am beginning to get really excited about this weekend........Saturday is Sir Stampalots Big Demo Day.......I know I seem to have been harping on about it for weeks, but it really is a very special occasion.......there are not that many craft events outside of the organised shows that have so much going on all in one place. Lots of live demonstrations with plenty of room to watch no less than seven talented ladies, all with very different crafting skills, lots of special offers and refreshment as well.

And I have even more excuse to be excited because I have blogging friends travelling to visit, in some cases quite long journeys, so you can imagine how I am looking forward to meeting some for the very first time.

This card has been created as one of my samples for Saturday following the challenge theme this week at Stamping for the Weekend where they would like to see projects made in "Lilac and Silver with the added option of a gift tag to match".

I have created a frame using Magnolia DP and silver mirri card cutting the apertures with Nesties run through the Bug. The image and sentiment are from the new Rachelle Anne Miller range stamped with versafine black, embossed with detail clear and coloured with Copics. I also added some clouds with chalk, birds, grass and flowers with Art Impression G3234,AA1378 and AA1398. Leaves and flowers are all pounced, the larger leaves using metal and colouring with Alcohol Inks.

Another litte sneak peek for Saturday

A note about the gift tag - the £20 note is not real, a photocopy.......my hubby say's that probably illegal so if I am missing on Saturday you will know why. And before I finish some Birthday wishes - Happy Birthday to Chris (one of super talented ladies who will be sharing our day on Saturday), Vernonique, my beautiful future DIL and George our youngest lab who will be one today.

Internet nightmares

New Stamp Addicts TV Show

If I ever had any doubt how much I rely on the Internet the last week confirms I am most definitely joined to my computer at the hip. A whole week with only the odd hour or so's connection here and there is a total nightmare. This new server was going to take just a few hours to install, yet here we are a week later and they are still faffing about with it. It's meant to be mega efficient and fast and have bells and whistles.......if you ask me the bells and whistles are well and truly rusty.
So the result, very little blog hopping and only the odd visit to all my friends out there........I am so so sorry, I do still love you all really. I am preparing this post on Wednesday afternoon, but when it will actually go live on my blog is any ones guess.......but I must have faith in the teccies, they assure us all will be well shortly........I seem to recall them saying something similar this time last week.

Anyhow, I told you that there was a new Stamp Addicts show in the offing.......well it's going out live on Wednesday 18th November at 10am on Create and Craft TV........and now I can share some of my sample cards for the programme.

I really enjoyed playing with all the goodies that you will be able to buy from the programme, some really yummy embossing powders from JudiKins along with some if their great cube stamps. This card uses the Pressed Leaf Cube using one of my favourite messy techniques. The images were randomly stamped with Black Stayzon onto Acetate, then Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks added to the revers along with some splashes of Gold Krylon. I then took a piece of ripped text from an old book, covered it with Tombow glue and laid it over the inks. Next I crumpled a piece of kitchen foil, added the same glue and laid this over the back of the whole piece. Once dry - this only takes a few moments, I did some simple matting and layering and tied some raffia round before adhering it to my card. Finally, I highlighted the stamped images with an Inkssentials opaque white pen.

Allsorts challenge 7

My goodness, it's week seven at Allsorts already and it's Jackie's turn to select the theme which is ACETATE, to use it somewhere on your projects.

For my card I have used one of my favourite messy techniques. First step is to stamp the image onto acetate - I find it works best using a stamp that has a fair amount of solid pattern, this time I've gone for Hero S5033 stamping with Stayzon black. When it's dried turn over and apply alcohol inks (I used Tim Holtz) - it's important to add inks to the reverse as the inks and Stayzon don't mix.

Next take a page of an old book rip to fit about half the piece and cover with a dries clear glue - I find Tombo stick works well and stick the the inked side. Now take a piece of kitchen foil, crumple then flatten, add more glue to the entire piece - paper/ink side again and flatten the foil over. Now it's ready to trim and add to your card. I also like to highlight parts of the image with a white Inkssentials opaque pen to add definition.
I finished my card by adding some buttons, beads, lace and ribbons and stamped Hero F5158 down one side using versamark and detail white embossing powder.

Messy techniques

I'm all behind, no post yesterday and it's afternoon already, but the sun's been shining and I did spend an hour or so in the garden.

Anyway, I did get down to work eventually and here's a couple of a new batch I've come up with for Sir Stampalot using some new goodies which came from them the other day.
I enjoyed the grungy foil and alcohol ink technique I posted up last week so the first card follows exactly the same process.
The lovely leaf stamp is a new one from Hero S5154 and the background mat is stamped with Hero H2365, which I'm so pleased is back in their 2009 catalogue after being discontinued a while back.

My second card is another version of the card I did for this weeks Sketch and Stash challenge again following the same technique explained there.

I added some lace and a bird cut on Cricut Home Decor to carry the theme through.

I am also linking this post to the DT call from Funky Hand.

My time to Craft 58

My time to Craft Challenge 58 is Metallica and gives me a perfect opportunity to try out a new technique I discovered this week using acetate, crumpled foil an old book and inks which you can find here. It's super messy and I added my own slant by using Glimmer Mists along with the alcohol ink so you get some extra glitz - remember, glitter makes the world go round - doesn't it ?

Both stamps are PB, the main image 2407K stamped with black stayzon, highlighted with an Inkssentials opaque pen and the swirly one 2636K stamped with versamark and embossed with detail clear. The edges of the card have been distressed with TH antique linen, rubbed with versamak and dipped into detail gold to highlight them as has the black mat. I have added some punched out butterflies from another piece made up using the same foil technique.
