Mary Had a Little Lamb

What a fun theme Nettie has come up with at Polkadoodles this week "Nursery Rhymes".

In case it's not obvious, mine is Mary Had a Little Lamb, all the right elements on the Back to Nature CD and I couldn't resist adding some cotton wool to the lamb which I decoupaged with three layers. The little girl is Beviboo one of the Fairy Flutterfly stamps, also decoupaged after colouring with Prismacolor pencils. I masked her before adding the layers and created a scene with an assortment of stamps.

A fence border using the Martha Stewart punch, a computer generated verse and flowers re sized from the All Around CD.

Polkadoodles 10

Before I tell you all about the new challenge at Polkadoodles I need to remind you that we have more Hero candy on offer here. So it you have not already added your name there is still time before the draw on Monday.

My Doodly teamie Fliss would like to see projects to celebrate a milestone age birthday or anniversary. The new Paper Boutique is selling like hot cakes and every time Nikky takes it to C&C it's a sell out and I have used it as the basis for my DT card this week.

I also combined some stamping using the Back to Nature stamp set. First off, I stamped the swirl and flower round the edges of a piece of white cardstock with versamark and embossed with detail clear. I then distressed with one of the new Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet and and Bundled Sage, two of the lush new colours. The flowers were stamped onto the green and pink papers, cut out and layered onto a 'stem' made with a Sizzix die run through the Big Shot. I added cord, punched leaves and pearls and a 21st birthday sentiment from the same CD.

Polkadoodles week 5

Good morning peeps, it's Friday which must mean a new Polkadoodle challenge. And this week it's our teamie Claire's turn to host the challenge and she ask that we include some paper piercing on our card.

Before I move on to how I made my card, I just want to remind you all that you still have time to enter the one off Stampalot challenge where the prize is a Big Shot plus dies etc.

I decided on a bit of machining, albeit it rather rickety, I just can't sew straight lines anymore it seems. And a colourway that I should use more, somehow I don't seem to use blue often but I was drawn to this pretty stripey paper from the 'Whiskers and Paws' section of the Back to Nature CD.

The stampie is from the same CD which I coloured with Copics, cutting three layers to build up and add dimension. The border is Martha Stewart embossed scallop and the corner frame a Sizzix die run through the Big Shot. The two flowers were created with punches and spritzed with Glimmer Mist lavender fields. I punched a few daisies from the stripey paper offcuts and added them round the image.

Polkadoodles 3

Before I launch into this weeks Polkadoodles challenge set by my teamie Enfys, I want to say a huge thank you to the team at ABC challenge for selecting my card for their Top 5 last week, I was super thrilled to see my name there.
We have been given us a sketch to work with plus she would like to see projects made with 'Orange and Red', might sound an odd combination but try it out, it works really well.
I have used one if the images from the Back to Nature CD, coloured with Copics and decoupaged the little girls clothes, then added some chalk clouds and grass to the background. The patterned paper is from the same CD and the top panel bazzil run through the Big Shot using a daisy folder. Border are punched with Fiskars threading water and ribbon and gems added to finish.

Polkadoodle challenge 1

A whole new year of Polkadoodling starts today !!

And make sure you put a note in your diaries to see the new CD launched on Create and Craft at 11.00am on Sunday 10th January. The DT have been so lucky and we have been playing with it for the past couple of weeks and I can tell you is is absolutely superb with the most gorgeous images, colours and papers.

For this weeks challenge the DT have come up with some brilliant work using the Back to Nature CD following this weeks theme -"Song title..use a song title with new BTN CD". Not sure how many will know this one, but it's one of my favourites from the guy in the oh so tight white jeans.......Freddie of course and Queens "Spread your Wings" originally featured on their 1977 album News of the World and re-mixed several times since.
My wings are in the form of this beautiful butterfly on the Heritage section of the CD and the blend of lilacs and soft greens one of my favourite colours combos. I cut the largest of the butterflies out and glitzed it up with two layers of iridescent embossing powder and added gems to his thorax. The border is punched with a new Martha Stewart pop up butterfly punch.......was not too impressed at first, but after playing around for a while found you need to punch twice before moving along the card to make the butterflies pop.......with only one punch they remained fixed, but the second punch give them lift but there are no instructions to say this.

I used the tiny butterflies that are the surplus after punching and dotted them around my card. The greeting is also from the same collection which I cut into circles with Nesties through the Bug.

Polkadoodles challenge

What a learning curve I have been on this week with my first DT card for Polkadoodles. My goodies arrived lunchtime Wednesday but as DT work is due in that day not too much time to get my head round everything.......now the confession, I am a total virgin at working with CD's. But, how easy the Back to Nature CD is and wow, what fantastic images, all very my sort of thing and now I can't want to get stuck in properly to this one one and the others.
The theme for this weeks challenge is New Year with an envelope somewhere on your project. I just love this owl family and the polka dot paper and being eager to try out everything have used one of the flower swirls from the accompanying Back to Nature Unmounted Stamp Sheet and stamped across the top of the card and embossed with iridescent powder for some New Year sparkle. The punch is Martha Stewart Embossed Scallop, I added Diamond Glaze to the owls eyes and some pearls to embellish.
