Vintage Snow White Dime Banks

Beautifully lithographed, this Snow White dime register bank is made of tin and measures approximately 2.5" square and .75" tall. Copyright markings read "©1938 Walt Disney Enterprises." Dwarfs graphics appear on all four sides with bank instructions on bottom.

Once the first dime is inserted into the bank, the back slide-open door locks. When the bank has registered the insertion of $5.00 worth of dimes, the door unlocks and allows access to the coins.

There is also a Dopey dime register bank. It has identical measurements and functions the same as the Snow White bank. Copyright markings are slightly different, "©1939 Walt Disney Productions."

Wicked Mints and Grumpy Sours Tins

I'm a big fan of Snow White tins, especially small ones. I guess there's just something about the fact that they're made from metal, and if properly cared for, they'll be around way longer than I will. Here's a couple nifty examples currently available at the theme parks...

"Wicked" Evil Apple Mints tin. Purchased from the World of Disney store at Walt Disney World Resort, November 2009. Measures 4" x 2 1/2" x 3/8". Original price $3.95 (USD).

This "Grumpy" Orange Sours tin (in shrinkwrap) was also purchased from the World of Disney but in February of 2011. It wasn't available in 2009. Same measurements and price as above.

1930s "Disneyland" Belgian Biscuit Tin

As with the other Snow White cookie tins (A, B) produced by J. Schuybroek in the late 1930s, this one measures 20 x 33 x 6.5 cm and has a key lock lid. However it differs from these in that it features more Disney characters in addition to those just from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In fact, the only representations from the film are in the Princess, Dopey, and a few forest animals. All other illustrations are taken from the Mickey Mouse shorts or Silly Symphonies--even including The Old Mill.

While this tin was probably made more than a decade and a half before the 1955 opening of Disneyland Park, it's interesting to note that the outer rim of the lid is actually decorated with a flowing ribbon that reads "Disneyland". Since the Anaheim theme park did not exist at the time, it's obviously referring to the "make-believe" land shown in the images that adorn the tin.

Copyright reads "PAR AUT. WALT. DISNEY--MICKEY MOUSE S.A." in the lower left hand corner of the front panel. Manufacturer label "ETABL. J. SCHUYBROEK S.A. HOBOKEN--ANVERS" resides on the upper rear edge of the lid. "Made in Belgium" stamp on bottom of tin.

Perfume Tin Gift Set

OK...one more perfume snippet to go along with the previous post....a series of four Disney gift tins that appear to have been manufactured in Italy sometime in the last couple of years or so. The featured characters were Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella, and Tinker Bell. Each 2-piece tin contained a 50ml Eau De Toilette and a 75ml Shower Gel. Individual tins can still be found for sale at various online auctions sites.
