Snow White at MCO

The last time I visited Walt Disney World, I'd meant to stop in and snap a few photos at the Disney Store inside Orlando International Airport (MCO). Unfortunately, time did not permit. That's the bad news. The good news is that TokyoMagic of Meet the World shot his own pics on a recent trip. Here's what I wanted to get...Snow White sitting out in front of the store

And next to her is the Magic Mirror which reveals, depending upon where you're standing, the three lenticular images of Aurora, Ariel or Cinderella.

Snow White TV Special (50th Anniversary - 1987)

We wrap up our month-long look at the Snow White 50th Anniversary with a television show...

Screen captures via DTVzone.

This one hour special, Disney's Golden Anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, was shown on NBC's weekly series The Magical World of Disney. In the Michael Eisner introduction to the show, it's clear that it aired around Christmastime. The copyright at the end of the program and the episode title both indicate that it was created in 1987. (I make a point of this because there are numerous online sources that state various and differing airdates for this program.)

Hosted by Dick van Dyke, the show included live-action and animated segments telling the history of the film and revealing for the first time the deleted "soup-eating" and "bed-building" scenes.

The special guest-stars included Jane Curtin as the Evil Queen and Sherman Hensley as the Magic Mirror. The storyline that runs throughout the other historical and musical segments of the program has the Queen placing a spell on Grumpy in an attempt to get him to persuade the other Dwarfs to retire. Much of the show was shot on location at night throughout Disneyland with a couple of singing and dancing numbers by Dick Van Dyke and the Seven Dwarfs.

As mentioned earlier, the program was introduced by Michael Eisner. Later, partway through the show, things slowed a little with a weaker musical number by a few television stars of the day. Yet, Dick van Dyke picked things up, and Linda Ronstadt, singing at Snow White's Grotto, finished it off in style with Some Day My Prince Will Come .

You'd think that a Snow White television program from the 1987 might not hold up too well in today's video game, action adventure society. Yet, in fact, it does. Dick van Dyke is timeless, and following his lead, the program is informative and entertaining...even 24 years after its original airing.

Jelly belly and a stormy sky

Good Morning, it's a wee bit blustery here and a coat colder, we had a minus 4 frost again which goes against the grain of what the weather men forecast.

I am still waiting for my test results, but we are close to the ten days they said and my tummy turns to jelly every time there is a phone call for me. I just hope they don't keep me waiting much longer because I just can't concentrate and everything I try and create ends up in the bin at the moment, so this is a share of a sample card I did for Stampalot a couple of weeks ago using the Andy Skinner A Winters Tale set.

I stamped the tree with black archival ink and brayered another in reverse for the reflection in the water................this tree is really a bit big for that technique I think as the water looks to be a bit excessive to me. Next I sponged Adirondack eggplant and sunset orange and TH tumbled glass and finally stamped Art Impression worker stamps along the shoreline.

Have a good day everyone and thank's for dropping by.

"One Stop" Snow White Poster (50th Anniversary - 1987)

One Stop Posters, the distributors for two of the Snow White buttons seen in the previous post, were also the guys responsible for this giant-size, 'in-your-face' door poster. At 26" across and 72" long, this is absolutely the largest piece of memorabilia I've ever tried to run through my pint-size scanner. It took forever...but it was certainly worth it.

Six feet down in the lower left hand corner is the One Stop logo and info. The lower right has the Walt Disney Company 1987 copyright.
