Redonda Snow White Stamps (50th Anniversary - 1987)

In celebration of Snow White's big 50th, a set of commemorative postage stamps was issued in June of 1987 by the Kingdom of Redonda. OK...you got me. There is no such kingdom (except in the minds of a few folks with micronational yearnings). Redonda is an uninhabited rock, an island, the smallest in a chain of three that make up the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda.

So it seems the set, with postage ranging from .25 to $5.00, was actually issued by Antigua and Barbuda. This 10-piece Art of Animation series features scenes of Snow White and the Dwarfs taking part in the various Disney Studio departments that were involved in the production of the animated film. The Queen even makes an appearance in the editing room.

Each stamp displays a Snow White "50th Anniversary" insignia. They're also marked with a "Capex '87 Exhibition" overprint because the stamps were issued in conjunction with the Canada Philatelic Exhibition in Toronto on June 13-21, 1987.

The ten stages of animation include: Story and Storyboard, Layout and Background, Direction, Recording Dialogue, Animation, Ink and Paint, Camera, Editing, Recording Music, and finally Screening.
